ROFLMAO! This really hits home! I have 2 cats who tend to do this, the one more than the other! One ends up locked in the laundry, but I have learned to look. The other will try to crawl into any open ground level cupboard door if you aren’t watching.
I have one who always gets into my coat closet, even if it seems like I only had the door open for a millisecond. He has spent more than one day (not in a row) locked in there while I was at work until I figured I just wouldn’t latch the door any more.
