This reminds me of my Gran. When I was 8 years old I complained of boredom. Gran replied, oh really, dear, I can take care of that for you. She handed me a basket of my white school socks to darn and sat over me while I did them. Took me absolute ages to finish one and it wasn’t very well done either. Never again did I say I was bored! We lived in a flat [apartment] too, so playing noisy games was out of the question. That was way back in 1952 and my Gran didn’t believe in child psychology. The back of the hairbrush was her psychology. I survived though as many of us did in those days.
