I have very thick hair which is a nightmare to brush.
It doesn’t always hurt but the brush can get stuck.

Considering this strip when it was first published may have been the origin of that line. Akin to the person who said “Shakespeare’s works are full of cliches”, most of which he originated in his plays ("let loose the dogs of war’, et al).
