For some reason this makes me think of trends in names…I can’t think when I’ve known anyone to call a little girl Sally, although I know some middle-aged Sallys and some quite senior ones! And when’s the last time a baby girl was named Brenda, or Donna, or Peggy, or Millicent, or Mabel, or Violet, or….
Thank you! One of the things I enjoy about this strip is the sweetness of the humor, and how that brings out a sweetness in the comments. Everybody is so nice here, and that’s a big relief from some other environments.
Might it be a reference (unintentional perhaps) to Sally Brown, who made her first television appearance in the same year? (According to the copyright date.)

Or Cindy or Cathy. The boys will be back after Sally gets tired of them. And then, you and Taffy can make the boys beg.
