Indeed, much of life seems to wor backwards. As we get older with fixed or declining income and our minds get feeble, our health care and prescriptions get more complicated and expensive. We need the help of others more as we age.
On the other hand, we can retain usefulness later in life, and giving and receiving are wonderful ways to prepare for our “graduation” into the next life.

It will really get backward when the parents get infirm and move back in and must be cared for
