Oh God we couldn’t afford air conditioning when I was growing up, and it is truly horrible trying to sleep when you’re way too damn hot! Many summer nights we’d end up sleeping outside! (We lived on a farm out in the country so it was actually fun to “camp” outside! I don’t know how people can stand it when it’s that hot in the middle of the city! )

…and when I was a young lad on the farm, during the winter the chamberpot under the bed would freeze solid every night, making it quite hard to empty in the morning!
