Ah ha ha ha! Have been that person who dropped the retractable. One dog would just ignore it and keep running because he knew I could do nothing to stop him. It always eventually got stuck on something. Another would just stop and stand until I picked it up. Littlest is like the dog in the strip scared enough of loud noise to climb a tree if she could.
