Cleats by Bill Hinds for September 17, 2008
Transcript:
Bailey: We defensive players only get noticed if we let someone score. And the offensive guys get noticed when they score. We get blame. They get credit. It's not fair. Jerome: Look at it this way, Bailey. On this team, we get a lot more attention than they do.

Bill lives about thirty miles north of Houston. I haven’t been able to reach him. I’ve heard that his city’s water supply is okay (not contaminated), but trees are down (everywhere!) and there’s still no power. Schools are closed all this week.
Until he returns, we can at least power up his comments section. Bill Hinds is a big guy, but I know he’d appreciate a little COMMENTS VIGIL.

Do we need to hold candles during this comment vigil? :-) I have a really nice bayberry candle.
What is written on Bailey’s uniform?

I think it says DAWGS. Isn’t that the team name?

Cleats is one of my favorite strips. Thanks for giving me a good excuse to leave a comment (even if my comment is a lame one).

My uncle is on one of the crews being sent to Texas to help restore power.

Out of your yard again, frogapplause? Fred Basset had it right yesterday, “Hop it!’ http://www.gocomics.com/fredbasset/2008/09/16/ You are ridiculous and your idea for a comments vigil is even more ridiculous.

We’re thinking about you, Bill, and hoping for the best.

That’s kinda implied. By anything and everything anyone says. That’s why I like to quote Homer Simpson. “Don’t blame me. I voted for Kodos.”

I’ll be a vigilante with you! Here’s some good vibes for our fellow Texans on the Gulf - may y’all be safe, fed, clothed and sheltered until everything is back together again. My uncle said he rode out every storm for the last 30 years, but Ike changed his mind - never again.

Hey Bill….there’s already a whoe bunch of Ga Power crews there and more left headed that way today. Maybe they and the other crews from all around can get yall up and running SOON. In the meantime, best wishes and we hope you’re managing ‘ok’.
