What? He couldn’t squeeze a little more stuff into that drawing? How big was the original piece of paper? Does anyone know?

All that for a penny. Back then you were lucky if you had a penny. Both entertainment and social commentary. You are right Radish he does favor Neuman. The one thing to notice all the girl have shoes. Some guys do but most do not. It was not proper in those times for a girl to not have her feet covered.

I would love to see some commentary—-it looks like there is a lot of political satire going on. Look at what the goat is saying.

I think the Yellow Kid grew up to be Mr Natural.

All the comments on Alfred E. Neuman; remember, that character was not a MAD invention. He was around much before that.

Ah Hearst, only a man like him can show up to ruin an innovative art form with business rivalry, profit and greed. Just you wait Hearst, just you wait until a certain MOVIE is made based on you!!!

“She’s human and she’s fly” – anyone know the origin of saying someone’s fly? (I assumed it was this century, silly me)

Alfred E Neumann was a character design from 20 years before the Yellow Kid, at least. Not that he had that name until much later but the cockeyed grinner was used in advertising and satirical cartoons from around the American Civil War.
