Cory needs to get back to thinking about his ACADEMIC education and his longer-term priorities and quit hanging around trouble-making girls and their ex-boyfriends. Cory needs to go back to living in a dorm on campus where there are fewer things he is too naive to understand and deal with. Cory needs to realize that various legal infractions (not just this trumped up issue here, but the driving infraction and switching places with Lani) are damn dumb things for him to have gotten involved with in terms of his future. His ability to do well ACADEMICALLY is his ticket to a really enjoyable life in the real world when he gets older.
And, before any of you comment, yes… I am a traditional, pipe-smoking college professor…. so I have seen thousands of college age students during my time at the university…. and I have seen an unfortunately too large a number of students who, like Cory, get involved with the ancillary aspects of college life to the detriment of their own future. They become akin to “lost souls” with many of them never growing up and just drifting around aimlessly.
to PipeTobacco: this is a CARTOON. It is difficult to get a punch line out of characters who walk the straight and narrow. Lighten up. Laugh … or go read the Op/Ed page.
@Pipe Tobacco – Sometimes life lessons have to “whack you upside your head” before you realize which path is dumb and which path leads to a better you. This is one of those life lessons. What will be interesting is if Cory recognizes it as a life lesson and will it stick?
