Good for you, old Sarge. My wife was a waitress for years when she was younger, and from what she tells me, without those generous tips the wait-staff is screwed, money-wise.Kudos to all who show “love” to their waiters & waitresses.

I worked in the food industry for 20 years and know what it’s like to be treated like an underpaid, overworked servant. Underpaid, because most people don’t realize that minimum wage doesn’t apply to servers – I was lucky to get half that. So when people tip poorly or not at all, the server is essentially working for free. And if someone beats their check – takes off without paying their tab – the house rarely covers it. Instead, the waitperson pays your tab out of their own pocket. So tip generously.
