At 481 feet, the Great Pyramid of Giza was the world’s tallest man-made structure for over 3,800 years. By the time the Strasbourg Cathedral was built, erosion had shortened the Great Pyramid to 456 feet, according to Wikipedia.

It took forty years (1853-1893) to construct the Salt Lake Temple and it’s 222 feet high. The Washington D.C. Temple in Kensington, Maryland (also of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) is 288 feet high and took six years (1968-1974) of construction.

They made him first base.

If I recall correctly, Ray Chapman’s last words were “Tell him (the pitcher) I’m OK”.

FTR, the reason there haven’t been any more deaths like Chapman’s is that the League instituted helmets shortly afterward.

He’s not a troll. My guess is he’s a Mormon who is trying to show pride in the church’s building achievements.

Not exactly ‘shortly afterward’ – close to 50 years later. Pitchers generally didn’t throw as hard in the 20’s & 30’s, using guile and finesse to get outs – plus depending on good fielding. Wasn’t ‘til after WWII, and the advent of ’hurlers’ like Bob Feller that getting ‘beaned’ was taken seriously.
