Arlo and Janis by Jimmy Johnson for September 01, 2013
Transcript:
Janis: Football already? Is this college or pro? Arlo: That's the wrong question! The question is... Arlo: Who gets the millions of dollars in revenue being generated? Arlo: The players. Or the institutions that collude to make sure the players don't get a dime. Janis: I don't understand sports!

obligatory “college education” defense only heard when it is Division I football or basketball being talked about that ignores other sports, other divisions of the NCAA, the NAIA, the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA), the NJCAA, and the Olympics out of an idyllic belief in “amateurism” that the Olympics doesn’t even follow
And all because Ed O’Bannon had the nerve to ask "Why didn’t EA Sports ask the players to lend their likenesses to EA’s video game instead of the NCAA itself?

I can’t be bothered to watch sports I don’t participate in (like porn); beach volleyball, I once got to do Fridays after work, and the girls are um, interesting. Little League, maybe high-school feetball (US style) where the kids actually GO for it. Multi-millionaire Pro {name one}, meh. Bread + Circuses.

Well said Arlo. And lack of compensation is why alot of the college stars leave early. How would you like to be super talented with 10s of millions in contracts waiting for you and then blow out you knees senior year? Here’s your basket weaving diploma, don’t let the door hit you in the a__ on the way out.
SnuffyG about 11 years ago
Well don’t even go to college, if you’re that good, the pro’s will hire you anyway.

Arlo Whining!? Most college players get a free scholarship worth tens of thousands of $$$! And, no one is FORCED to go to college and play a game. Quit if you don’t like it. Also many many athletes waste the scholarship by blowing off classes or choosing a useless major. Props to those that don’t do that, and don’t complain.

We have a big local high school football game at the end of June. It is held by Boomer Eaison Foundation. Allstar LI vs allstar NYC. End of June just seems wrong for football.
