Red and Rover by Brian Basset for August 27, 2013
Transcript:
Summers sure fly by fast and the jet age. Kids are so much luckier 100 years ago, when things moved at a slower pace. You mean back when they worked 15 hours a day under appalling conditions until child labor laws were passed? Picking up after yourself doesn't seem so bad now, does it?

The âGood Old Daysâ when we had a Future worth looking forward to!
I saw a sign in the late 70âs that said:
âOnce We Get to the Asteroid Belt the IRS will never Find us!â
Wanna guess why they ripped the guts out of the Space Program? Canât have the Slaves, sorry âTax Payers,â getting away, now can we?

The choice wasnât working 15 hours a day versus going to school, playing in the meadows, or lazing under an apple tree. The choice was working 15 hours a day or starving. Child labor laws, like many others, only became possible after the country had become prosperous enough to afford to let the children go to school, play in the meadows, or laze under an apple tree.
