Somehow, to me, many of the recent strips (including this one) seem to be quite unfunny. I may in the minority here, but surely there are better gags they can come up with!
cryptomaniac: while I agree with you, YOU try coming up with a fresh, new, funny idea every day of the week, week after week, month after month, year after year… ‘taint easy.. just sayin’
Since Johnny Hart died, his grandson Mason Mastroianni draws the strip. Hence, the new wolf character and the changes in the funniness. I miss the Fat Broad and the Cute Chick, Wiley’s fear of water, Thor’s inventions, the snake, the turtle and the bird, the anteater, the apteryx, and all of the old prehistoric gags that had nothing to do with today’s politics. I especially miss the strips about Christ on Christmas and Easter. After ready BC for over 40 years, I’m almost ready to give up on it. It’s just not the same, and it’s not funny anymore.
Celestpuls just reminded me of what I am missing. Can these old strips written by Johnny Hart be found in a library? I like Mason ’s work and look forward to every strip.
If readers don’t like what is happening to a treasured old comic strip, and post that they don’t, then I’m feeling a bit better about my hesitation to not read the strip anymore either… ;)

Shades of a classic story arc in which Clumsy was trying to keep an endangrered fish from being eaten — by Curls, as I recall.
