Using his Dad’s compass, Calvin proved scientifically that down is south. Sadly, the compass didn’t survive the trip south.

I always wondered that if the Carthaginians won the Punic Wars, would they be content at being on the bottom of the map?

In that case we would refer to Australia as the Land Up Over.

Another point of interest. A number of ancient cultures put East (the direction of the rising sun) at the top of their maps. In fact to align a map today we say we ORIENT it.

Surely north is forwards and south backwards?

My weekend’s gotten off to a great start… We had today off, and we have Monday off too! I am so much looking forward to the rest of this long weekend! Got a lot done today: mowed the lawn, worked on the car a little bit, got some laundry done. But never fear: I’m hoping to fit in some fun this weekend, too. Hope your weekend goes as good as ever. I’ll be thinking about you!
