Seriously? You want to bring up that argument? How about simply remembering the thousands of lives lost needlessly? Thousands of Americans never got to go home that day and they were not military, not fighting a war. No matter what or who was all involved, it was evil and tragic and honoring their memory should always come first!
My birthday is Dec 7th. When I was little, people still paid attention to Pearl Harbor Day. These days, rarely – it has been superseded by events. The war to end all wars is also fading. In time, this too will fade, to be replaced by the next tragedy.
As an aside, the build-up this year was almost non-existent – no indication of anything unusual on my commute into Manhattan today.
To those who wonder why a couple of us didn’t immediately get the point of today’s strip: memorials to 9/11 aren’t usually this subtle. Rodney and Gwen could have been reminiscing about something personal that happened in their relationship — or Gwen thinking about their personal history and Rodney thinking about his relationship with his horse — for all I knew, and it wasn’t until I remembered what today is that I understood what they were talking about. That said, the victims of 9/11 will never be forgotten!
Let us hope that next year on 9/11 we won’t have to remember that our own president joined al Qaeda and the other militant groups in their effort to get rid of Assad.
The Subway ad may be fake; but, after receiving death treats, the Wisconsin golf course, that had planned to offer 9 holes of golf for $9.11 today, decided to cancel the promotion.
Right after the towers fell, there was a either BC or Wizard of Id cartoon that showed one of the characters coming out of his cave crying…to the right were two volcanoes with smoke belching out of them.
I always remember my birthday cause my birthday is the day after the anniversary of the attacks September 12 not trying to be mean were Rodney and Gwen remembering September 11 or something in their relationship in today’s strip???!!!!

C’mon people. Let us not forget the horrible event that happened 12 years ago this date. Yes I will take time to remember.

I will NEVER forget, and my husband and I make sure that our daughters know as well.

Oy, if you don’t like to commemorate 9/11, keep your yap closed and allow those who want the commemoration to have it.

Always the lunatic fringe with moronic comments with absolutely zero verifiable proof of their claims.

@Gator and Denzil…. and a field of heroes in Pennsylvania who fought their captors so that others would live.

Actually it was a fake ad from the Onion. Subway is pretty angry about it.

The Onion is the source. It’s a satirical newspaper/website. Yes, it was in terrible taste.

They say you can’t argue with logic. Not true. What you cannot argue with is utter irratianality and denial of reality… oh, and stupidity.
