Just like you can’t just toss a whole deer into a pot of chili. Gotta send it to the locker plant. You send off the strawberries you’ve hunted down and they come back in white paper, ready to be used in food. Right?
I think today is the last of the Great Strawberry Confusion, by the way. Eddie had to have the last word.

Plant some, or better yet, a fruit tree—so he can try one straight off the tree warm in the sun and best of all get to climb that tree with Mom’s okay in order to get to that perfect peach.

We had a nice fig tree. Made jam by mashing the cooked figs and mixing with strawberry Jello. Worked great.
