Here, I’ll even put the tomatoes on a plate for you. There are now 86 on the kitchen window sill. the rain will stop Thursday (I hope) and I’ll pick some more.

Thanks guys, that was faster than canning. I dropped them in hot water, peeled, cut in fourths and now I have 5 bags of goodies. I’m going to make Harvest Soup.
lb hamburger or ground turkeycouple potatoes peeled and cut in chunksonion, chopped3 or 4 stalks celery, slicedbig can of diced tomatoes with juice(or bag of frozen!)26oz beef broth2 or 3 sliced carrotsextra: handful of frozen peas, corn or mixed veg. 1/2 head sliced or chopped cabbage (our fav) or what ever is left in all those bags in the freezer.2 bay leaves and teaspoon oreganoFry hamburger until no pink remains, dump in pot with everything else, simmer until potatoes are tender. This is a soup for the non-precise cooks like me!

Oh forgot, you can thin it with some water if you want. We like our soup, stew thick, but you might like yours more soup-y

2old2readcomics, sounds like you made a good plan! You can also, should you get more tomatoes before your season ends, rinse well, throw in a pot and cook for about 20 to 30 minutes, bring to boil, turn to low and let simmer. Cook as is or add garlic, onion, parsley, basil, oregano, or whatever your little heart desires, cool and freeze for later use
