Fortunately, most products today are quite reliable with the exception of kitchen appliances. We remodeled our kitchen in 2006 and bought all Kitchenaid appliances.
So far ALL have needed repair: gas stove – burned thermal fuse, microwave – broken door button, refrigerator – broken icemaker door, dishwasher – no lights/dead. I was able to fix all but the dishwasher which went straight to recycling. So I’m thinkin’ Sandy probably works for Whirlpool/Kitchenaid.

Everyone does it Sandy, it’s called planned obsolescence. If the products lasted, you’d be out of a job and the economy would be worse off than it is.
