I spent my adolescent years on an Air Force base in Libya.
In those days, there were miles of unspoiled white sand beaches…. and no dictators, terrorists, or hint (to a 12-yr-old, anyway) of what was coming.
There was an American beach, but we mostly went with our English neighbors to the larger RAF one.
Deep blue water, so clear that with a snorkel, you could plainly see huge fish swimming 15 feet below.
The men brought spearguns and went fishing for dinner, even my sedentary Dad, though he wouldn’t even try the skate that was sometimes all they caught.
We kids spent hours paddling about with swim fins and snorkels…. the kind with the breathing tube attached to the face mask, which sealed with a little ball, just like Gene’s.
They’re now apparently banned as dangerous…..but they provided some great memories.
A special for Cheeseburger Day….Our twin cheeseburger plate…the Yakety Bacony. 2 small but thick yak burgers with 100% yak milk sharp cheddar or blue-veined cheese…. and what else…. sweet Turdmunkestani yak bacon, smoked by the Monkey himself.
Mmmmm….includes coleslaw and hand cut fries.
Anybody hungry?
Little Monkeys, I think I’ll have one!
No, sillies… all you guys will have to share one…. it’s a lot for a _human…. to finishso it’s _WAY too big for just one of you!

@DryYep, I think the Bridges family is a class act. And coming from Holly Bolly Wood, that says a LOT!>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>I had the pleasure of getting to know all of the Bridges years ago when the were making Harts of the Prairie in Sedona, I was the Night Manager for the resort that they where they were all staying. You could not ask for a nicer group of guests. Lloyd Bridges was not in especially good health at the time, though you’s never know it from his performance. But he truly was a fine gentleman. He told me that even after all the years, people still called him Mike Nelson. It was one of my favorite shows, too.

I got a diving mask one Christmas as a kid. The pool was closed, so I had to try it out in the tub.

Purple boxers with polka dots? Too bad they always find it necessary to censor stuff (plenty of it elsewhere online). I like to see . . . .
