Paige: I was writing my paper on the PC, and it was like, beepbeepbeepbeepbeepbeepbeep! And then, like, half my paper was gone, and I was like, "hnngh??" It devoured my paper. It was a really good paper. Nicole: Let me stop you right there, Paige. Paige: He said Ellen Feiss tried the same story on him last year. Nicole: That's like.... a bummer.

See though, computer problems are a lot different than you’re run of the mill excuse – they CAN crash or cause problems at the most inopportune time. Even when this comic came out, if anything it should have been more common, not less; and an older teacher, who might be less tech savvy on how to fix the problem (finding temp files and what have you) should be more prone to give a person a pass, having probably been in the same situation at least once as well….

You do not have to back up any of your computer files, you only have to back up those you want to keep.

Macs suck. That’s why I never understand this strip… or like it.
I’ve actually lost more things on Macs than PCs. I keep my files backed up regularly; the one time a PC crashed was just hours after a backup, so I barely lost anything. Macs… lol.

In the early 90’s my aunt was writting her dissertaion, and she had 3 back ups, kept one at school, one at work and one at home. She took the work and school sets home to update them with the most reecent version, and some one broke into her apartment and stole her computer and all the disks.
