Rather than wind or solar power, I think I would go with an electro-magnetic generator. I’m currently looking into the cost and longevity of such a system.
Chuck Barnard: Sun rights are unlikely to be affected as the shadow would only be in that position for an hour or so. If longer, the law would apply. .rush.diana: Bats could avoid them in total darkness. Eagles are slower reacting, but casualties would be minor compared to the rate of avian deaths caused by skyscrapers. Strange there were never any such reports in the pre-REA days of abundant farm windmill pumps and generators. Studies of the Danish off-shore wind farms show most birds view them as a solid object and fly around the whole array, while gulls and cormorants view the maintenance platforms and ideal nesting sites. I think these avian death stories come from the American Petroleum Institute.
