I missed out on a lot of overtime at work before I got a cell phone. It has more than paid for itself with the extra hours I’ve gotten I put a few towing company’s phone numbers, as well as Yellow Cab’s, in my phone’s directory for emergencies. Put ICE before the name of your emergency contact person in your directory, so emergency service workers know who to contact.
I didn’t want a cell phone, I avoided them, they were a waste of money and annoying.
Until I spent 2 hours at night driving to Indy to pick up my hubby at the airport when he’d been straded on the tarmack at O’Hare and missed his connection but couldn’t get to a payphone to call me until 5 minutes after I’d left the house. The whole drive back I was frantically worried :(, and fankly by the time I’d driven that long I could have probably gone to Chicago and picked him up…..

While Armstrong didn’t have a nice little convenient handset, he WAS in nearly constant radio contact with ground control.

I had a cell phone that kept dropping my calls, now I have a landline with an answering service and it works for me.
