A reminder of how small we are or a reminder of how big the universe is?

What an amazing feeling that must be, to stand on a moon and see your entire home planet, far away.

It’s interesting that everyone comments on the beauty of the planet. I spent a lot of time one day looking at NASA’s Picture of the Day, spectacular pictures of the awe-inspiring power, beauty, size, and did I mention POWER of the universe. But then all of a sudden pictures of earth settings came up — forests, rivers, waterfalls. I was almost knocked out of my chair by its special, human-sized beauty which, unlike the other, overpoweringly spoke of LIFE. Life just teeming everywhere and I had such a feeling of being part of this world, and being sheltered from all the frightening grandeur outside the blue marble.

How fortunate for those who do remember 1969 that they have seen a time when mankind did not feel that all of the magnitude and wonder of Space could fit within two pages of a magazine. Like everything here on Earth, the cosmos are now just another domain of ‘people’.
