TJ āleftā him the instructions? So is Quill operating the wagon by himself, manning both the counter and the grill? Where did TJ go? And when is this all happening ā is it on a weekend? Arenāt these people supposed to be in school at this time of day, otherwise?
DaJellyBelly about 11 years ago
Iām wondering if this will be another failed venture by TJ? I cannot place any blame on Quill. He was led to believe that he would just be a server on that lunch wagon.

This is the same Quill who just on October 24 was telling us that he cooked his own meals, right?
Angelalex242 about 11 years ago
And yet, if TJ himself were there, it would somehow work out to be delicious. The problem is duplication. TJ doesnāt know how to duplicate his successful techniques into other people. Only somebody who was ALREADY a master chef (like TJ himself) could make sense out of direction that vague.
JayBluE about 11 years ago
And, also, IIRC, Quill had specifically mentioned that it was going to be an after school gigā¦ and the one strip where Mrs. Berger welcomed them with a plate of cookies, she asked how their day was, and thatās when TJs truck pulled upā¦. -Also, I would surmise that it operates just on the weekdays, when theyād get the bulk of the crowds, for people going to work and schoolā¦.
JayBluE about 11 years ago
Yeah, but what about the salt? Maybe he should switch to rock salt, or another de-icerā¦
dadoctah about 11 years ago
TJ obviously hasnāt had any experience with Aussie culinary standards. Our friends down under think that hamburger fixings include (nay, require) sliced beetroot and fried eggs.
Itās no wonder Quillās cooking isnāt going over well here.

If this is an after-school job, then almost all of the dayās business is already finished, for a ālunchā wagon. This story arc doesnāt make a whole lot of sense.

Looks like I canāt call him MPQ anymore (Heās no longer Perfect) ā¦ Have to change it to MBQ (Mister Boring)
ShagsCA about 11 years ago
Surprise! It tastes like the paper it is printed on. (Except for the online version above, which requires some virtual paper flavor).
JayBluE about 11 years ago
Good call! Maybe also a bit of soap to help the cleanser to scour the bad flavor but not the stomach wallā¦ Iād suggest the fancy pomegranate flavored oneā¦

I signed up (after lurking) just to comment on this strip. Where did TJ get the money to obtain a license for his food truck. Thanks for reminding me that they are still in High School. Food trucks are all the rage in Vancouver right now but the competition to get a licensee is fierce. Oh, yes I remember Greg Evens can do anything in his āLuanneverseā My bad!
watmiwori about 11 years ago
Got it in one yesterday! Quill is doing both jobs, left in the lurch by olā TJ whilst he goes off to rob an orphanage or what-ever he does in his āspareā time.
Jadearon about 11 years ago
Ahhh, T.J., this isnāt one of those scams you donāt have to follow through on. You own this biz, dude. It all falls on you.
Sisyphos about 11 years ago
Deltaāās two-pronged comment is both scathing and cute. Just how bad can a wrap be?
jemgirl81 about 11 years ago
Can TJ really be that clueless?!

you know that Delta was the shift manager of the hot dog place years back and she is looking for work, donāt you?
TORAD_07 about 11 years ago
Yeah, itās hard to say whoās at fault here. TJ for leaving poor instructions, or Qulll for following them, rather than his own cooking instincts. Still, itās TJās truck/business so, in the end, heās responsible.
It reminds me of Dick Gautierās character on the āGet Smartā TV series, He played the robot (canāt say the robotās name, itās not PC these daysā¦ Just ask Rev. Jessie Jackson the next time heās in NYC ;-) ). But the robot did EXACTLY, what you told it to do. Youād say, ā:Hey [Robot], Kill the lightā and heād take out a pistol and shoot it.
My HS freshman English teacher did something similar. She assigned us homework ā a simple essayā¦ instructions on how to make a PB & J sandwich. Sure enough, after the essays were graded, she returned with them and a shopping bag full of PB & J supplies, and then proceeded to make the sandwiches per peopleās essay instructions.
Thankfully, being a computer geek, I knew exactly where she was going. Mine wasnāt picked for ādemonstrativeā purposes. Only the bad ones were. ;)

I dunno, my mom could cook up a storm, but she couldnāt convey how she did it at all.
BarbJay about 11 years ago
When I was first learning to cook many years ago I always loved that line in recipes āCook till doneā. How do you know?? And another one that confuses novice cooks āBrown the meatā. Does that mean till itās not red or really, really brown? You gotta know who your audience is.

Also like when my wife says: āLet me see the remote?ā I respond by holding it up in the airā¦. of course, sheād think I didnāt want to give it to her, anyway, Lol! ā But really, thatās something about the English language that always struck me as funny, the way certain words are said, what if they were applied in the way theyād sound?ā¦ Like, āSuch and such just kicked your butt in Ping Pong!āā¦ or āThat person was just beside themselves when they heard!ā or āYouāve got a really good head on your shoulders, thereāā¦.

I blame TJ here. He shouldnāt have left Quill alone with the cooking until he was sure he could do it well. Not just leave some poorly-writtenn instructions.
ACTIVIST1234 about 11 years ago
Poor guyā at least heās trying! He couldāve quit as soon as the captain abandoned ship.*TJ, not only should you have trained your employee, but you should have checked product quality.*Note to all our young readers: NEVER take the blame if your supervisor fails to train you properly!

What makes you think I donāt have joy in my life? Is believing that the Luannverse is a wonderful place inhabited by really great people a necessary requirement for experiencing joy?
Kim Roberts about 11 years ago
Not Delta cookingāTiffany. That would throw her in with Quill and drive everyone nutsāexcept Tiffany.
Scorchwave about 11 years ago
The best cooks donāt need to use measure cups, they go from knowledge. Iām assuming Tj is kinda like that.
locake about 11 years ago
Wraps are not hard to make at all. Just sandwich ingredients in a tortilla. No baking is involved.
reedkomicks Premium Member about 11 years ago
Judging from Quills enthusiasm with Guntherās momās cooking, Quill made for himself, Eggos for breakfast, Elios Pizza for lunch and frozen burritos for dinner.
JayBluE about 11 years ago
I like that one, too!
JayBluE about 11 years ago
anybody who operates a food truck or a concession makes their hours as they see fit. You assume a lot. ^There are already bits of information in place to come to such a conclusion, such as what Iāve already outlined. Thereās a big difference in assuming without putting together information and jumping to conclusions without considering said factsā¦ ā (1) Quill already said that he had an after school gig with TJā¦.(2) TJ picked him up in the afternoon for workā¦ (3) Setting oneās hours for a food truck is quite different in setting oneās hours in āhackingā (taxi/sedan service) for a livingā¦ it wouldnāt make sense to open your food service business at 3 A. M. , unless your main flow of business operates thenā¦ factor in any other competing businesses of similar type, and voila!ā¦ (actually, the same would hold true for a hackā¦ ) (also, this would include any lunch time hours as naturally , there would be a crowd available, unless there is a restriction in place to prevent the truck from operation near the schoolā¦.(4) Quill is a student, so his only hour (or less) at the truck would have to be at whichever time his lunch hour was, and that in itself may not fall within the same hours as other customersā lunchesā¦.ā So, see? Itās reasonable to conclude such as a possibilityā¦.

I donāt understand why TJ isnāt cooking and quill taking orders. TJ is the master chef and Quill has the hot accent. bam problem solved!

āAll spread with Vegamite.-Is that like a ketchup replacement?
Editman about 11 years ago
I just wanted to add one more thing, In Vancouver, there is no cooking in the food truck. The cooking is done before and just heated in the food truck.
