Young Dill is quite an athlete, running and catching his own kick over Alice’s attempted block. Petey, I think we all realize, could find cause to panic at almost anything….

Petey will be apoplectic when he finds out he needs to place an organic reed in his mouth which he has had in his mouth the day before, and the day before that, etc

Although we were living in Florida in the ’70’s, February could get pretty dang cold. My older daughter had a middle-school band concert one evening, and that day, on the coldest day of the year, both her reeds split. I had to take her on a, like, twenty-five mile round trip so her teacher could give her some more. After that, she learned to make her own reeds.Petey would’ve died.
