As I remember, the ‘paradise’ planet these hippies found had a biochemistry that was violently incompatible with humans. The plant life was poisonous and even the sap on the leaves caused severe burns.
Look at the 3rd season again cap, there are FAR worse episodes than Spock’s Brain. I think that one gets the worst wrap because it’s a funny title but ‘And the Children Shall Lead’ and ‘The Empath’ are dang near unwatchable… and I’m a HUGE fan!
I still enjoy Star Trek TOS, but after the movies and later series, TOS does seem a bit “campy” even if NASA did try to copy many of the futuristic innovations Star Trek came up with.
