Good morning Vagabonds..Happy Solstice everybody..A few troubles with my connection this morning, might be said to be internet interrupttus..As I said “Looking an ice storm in the eye.”.Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas..Have fun..ttfn
Greetings, Vagabonds, from sunny Palmdale, the home of the Space Shuttle and various secret aircraft.
It was in the 60’s yesterday, and sweatshirt weather at night.
Montana Daughter took me “Mother-of-the-Bride” dress shopping yesterday, and I ordered a gorgeous long dress in my favorite color……a bright, sparkly, burgundy.
Before that, I spent the morning at my old place of employment getting hugs and caught up with everyone’s stories. Such a joy to come back to this “Family”! My daughter took over my old job as HR Director, and they have become her family as well. It really makes me feel good in the job she is doing, and to see how she interacts with my old cronies. :)) I miss the people like mad, but not the “work”!
Christmas will be delayed a bit for us this year. Our son has to work on Christmas Day and won’t be able to visit until after the New Year, so we will leave up the decorations until he does come. Last year we gave him a real Civil War infantry sword. This year is a bit more lame……
Good morning, Vagabonds. Again I swam for one hour without touching any surfaces – I hope it helps.
Last night I won 3 Bingo games, but the lady to my right, kept winning and winning and winning. When someone wins no one grumbles – we cheer the winner. Still it’s a game of pure chance and I don’t know why one number board seems to be so “lucky.” I’ve been trying to get the group to play Sceabble – even in Spanish, which I can play with confidence. It’s using one’s brain with just a little left to chance (the drawing of the letter tiles). But no one wants to try it.
Morning, Vagabonds. @Arye, you’re right, technically. Christmas goes through January 5 and Epiphany starts on the 6th. That makes for the 12 days of Christmas. However, some churches do not celebrate worship with the liturgical calendar and I have found many Christians to be totally ignorant of the church’s seasons. Words like Advent, Epiphany and Lent and even Pentecost are foreign to them.
Many Eastern Orthodox churches celebrate Christmas on Jan. 6th, the Epiphany. We have always left our Christmas tree up until after that…….something my grandparents taught us (Polish) and has stuck to this day.
Our trip is continuing to be a wonderful joy. This afternoon we will head south to San Diego for the next 6 days. Weather has been in the high 60’’s………and snow at home!
We also celebrate Christmas until the 6th. We can’t see taking the tree and decorations down the day after like some people do. It’s a time to relax and enjoy.
Weather is great, temps in 50 and 60’s. Snow is all gone, all that’s left is where the plow pushed it up at the side of the street. Going to be 30 on Christmas day.
We have had an Advent Wreath this year at our church. This week we lit the “Angel” or “Peace” candle, and the associate pastor gave a little lesson about it.
