Andy can certainly can hold his own on the football pitch and his reputation now proceeds him but like all old footballers, there’s going to be the day when he has to hang up his cleats. One can only hope that MG&G don’t hasten the day with lame cartoons.
Now, forgive me if you disagree, but to my mind nothing lasts forever without change. Once the originator of a comic strip, book series, TV programme either dies or appoints others to write in his / her stead, it is not the same story. .This has happened to Asimov’s “Foundation”; the “Dune” saga; and this strip amongst other things. All things must pass (end) in their own time. Perhaps it’s time to go the same way as “The Perishers”, “Rugrats”, and “Star Trek”.
Re: Veterans day…I will have a post or two…but for how I feel about it, please see my comments on New Adventures of Queen Victoria….and add to that, the fact that my big brother John, who was a paratrooper, aka an X “marked target” was killed in action in Viet Nam….I have nothing but the utmost respect for them (our service people) and pray for them and their families daily….again, as I said at NAOQV, God Bless America, and all its tributaries and outlying constellations and its allies, and the rest of the world too….sheesh, I am such a woosie….sigh….but I do hope he stops in and see’s whats going on and steps in…its looking pretty grim out there folks…but, smile and the world smiles with you, ergo, Andy Capp….

Last of the ‘Squares’…
Q. Back in the old days, when Great Grandpa put horseradish on his head, what was he trying to do?
A. George Gobel: Get it in his mouth.
Q. Who stays pregnant for a longer period of time, your wife or your elephant?
A. Paul Lynde: Who told you about my elephant?
Q. When a couple have a baby, who is responsible for its sex?
A. Charley Weaver: I’ll lend him the car, the rest is up to him
Q. Jackie Gleason recently revealed that he firmly believes in them and has actually seen them on at least two occasions. What are they?
A. Charley Weaver: His feet.
Q. According to Ann Landers, what are two things you should never do in bed?
A. Paul Lynde: Point and laugh

Andy should know that mixed drinks can lead to mixed martial arts……….Hilarious “Hollywood Squares” today. I’m sorry to see them end.

I’m afraid I didn’t think much of this strip.
The only bit I like is the last panel with the circulating stars.

I can’t recall ever seeing a MG&G strip where the gag was purely visual.
