    Our local animal control officer says nearly every dog bite case she’s seen is because the child was mistreating or teasing the dog. Unfortunately, the parents usually refuse to admit their little angel would ever do something bad and so the dog ends up being put down, rather than the child being punished for their cruelty.

    People who get too familiar with a strange dog, deserve to get bit.

    I might not go quite that far, cbrsarah, but it’s certainly a fact that it’s much easier to train the animals than the humans.

    Ignorance may be bliss, but on some issues, it’s a decided hazard. People need to wake up, teach their kids useful skills and habits, beyond memorization of the attorney’s contact numbers.

    yah I had a german shep mix, some kid rode up on his bike(screech!) and said can I pet your dog, and I said NO, so he did anyway and almost lost a finger…

    We were taught as kids that when a dog growls it’s a warning. Slowly back off and leave the dog alone
