    These are well regarded in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan USA. Welsh miners who immigrated to this area brought this recipe with them. It was an easy meal to take into the mines. I don’t think you can walk into a grocery store or a restaurant in the UP without seeing pasties for sale. There are even shops that specialize in pasties and make different types. And a lot of people make their own pasties. I always try to sample as many as I can, it seems no two pasties are alike, everyone has their own special recipe. They are amongst my top ten favorite meals. Anyone who visits the UP for the first time, usually never heard of pasties before.
