I usually like to let individual strips speak for themselves, and don’t compare one with another. However, I was wondering how the C&H strip would be different if Maria were in that strip instead of Suzie Derkins?
Suzie is one of the many voices of reason that keeps Calvin grounded, I wonder if Maria would lean more that way out of necessity, or if she would still be (apologies for the word) Calvinesque?
I was in 3rd grade in 1964. I was doing a drawing of The Beatles that I thought was coming out really tremendous. Bot, it looked so good to my 8 year old eyes. Suddenly it was whipped away by the teacher and I never saw it again. So I’ll never know if it wasn’t really as good as I thought then- or if its a lost masterpiece.

I like the teacher’s thought balloon in the strip, as if it is invading Maria’s thoughts. Nicely drawn guys.
