I never LOL….. I might snigger or “snerk”, chuckle or grin. I have been known to type,“ROTFLMTO” on this site just so that younger people might understand.
LOL= Laugh Out Loud. People who don’t know have used that abbreviation on sympathy notes thinking it means “Lots Of Love”,causing many an awkward moment. Don’t be that guy.
I remember when my mother and her various correspondents used Ha Ha frequently and often a tad sarcastically. As in, "Jimmie’s new girl friend is a beauty. Ha Ha (I know this because I often read the mail when she put it down.)

LOL has always meant lots of love to me, and since I never write to describe a noise coming from my body, it will remain so.
