isn’t that amazing how they know…throughout our lives, we’ve always had at least one cat, haughty by nature, who would come curl up with whichever of us didn’t feel well… amazing creatures
My three Tom’s guarded me for three weeks when I came home after open heart surgery. They left my bed just long enough to grab a bite to eat and use the litter box. I was never left alone during this time. At least one cat was always next to me during my early recovery. Love my boys!
I have NEVER known a cat(I’m almost 70) in all that time that cared for anyone or anything more than it’s self—most conceited animals inthe world—EVERYTHING except eating and filling the litter box has to been done for them. Otherwise, they sleep ! !
@IndyMan: You poor thing! You’ve apparently never had the “right” cats. All of mine are my nursemaids when I am sick or sad. They are amazingly empathetic.
I call them my four-legged heating pads, too. Fortunately, they all like to snuggle.
I would wager that at least part of the problem is that some people don’t like cats simply because they aren’t like dogs. In order to appreciate cats, you have to be willing to take them on their terms, not demand that they be something that they can’t be. As for ‘conceited’: I’d say that’s a perfect description for those who think that they’re entitled to round-the-clock attention and want to be fussed over constantly — and I’m not talking about cats.
I think it’s cute just the way it is, we had both a dog and cats and they loved each other, and when they wern’t sleeping with me, they would sleep with each other.

That is my wife. She has a hand crocheted afghan that she throws over her feet that our two cats love. Instant feet warmer.

the lying on his back, feet in the air, meets he (or she) is perfectly content and confident that he’s not in danger… great compliment

copy that… we’ve had 11 of ’em over some 45 years, never more than three at a time, though, every one of them different, even pure siblings….
