I once read that these shoes include the element mercury in the pressure sensitive switch. Cute, maybe even a safety feature for a jogger, but not a good idea in terms of adding more of a really toxic substance to the waste stream (if true).
These are not sneakers. Sneakers are the inexpensive shoes from my childhood, not these over-priced monstrosities that look like they’ve been put together from the leftover scraps of better shoes.

Kids nowadays don’t know how easy they have it. Why, back in my day we had to shine flashlights on our sneakers!
