Stuff like this depresses me. I think I’ll just go out to the car and shove a Fats Domino album into the 8-track.

Last week there was a Victrola on a TV program. When my daughter (6) asked what it was I said an old-timey record player. She looked at me blankly and I realized that she has never seen a record player.

There are loads of ‘old-fashioned’ technology you can learn about in museums (sorry, guys, for making you feel really old)!

That’s awesome. While not quite as old, my parents still have a turntable and 8 track player from the 70s.

Just before 8-track became established, Radio Shack was carrying about half a dozen different tape cartridge system. 8-track won, briefly, before improved heads made Compact Cassettes work well enough to take over. I had reel-reel machines, and Compact Cassettes, avoiding 8-track and all the others. Still have a lot of vinyl records. Most of my music today is on my computer, and the only way I buy now is by download. Still have my good turntable.

I still have the original CD player I bought in the 80’s — and drawers full of CDs that I never listen to.

I have a turn-table and vinyl records, and I’m a child of the 90’s….who needs those little ipods!

My first tech buy was a four track tape player for the car. My brother liked enough to save up to buy one but it had been replaced by 8 track. Still have the player in the garage…
Gracias,
Glenn

My mind wasn’t blown today – I’m a big fan of Thatababy – today was mediocre. Tomorrow, blow my mind! :)
