It’ll be your first and last time, Calvin.

That’s our Cal, always pushing the envelope. Ever expanding his horizons. Dependong who he aims at, he might get sent to the garage for a spell, rather than his room….

I like contrast between realism of parents’ panel and sketchiness of Calvin’s panel.

I did this in our library one time, when the director wasn’t there (I was one of the librarians). It was fun.The director’s admin assistant took it well, after she sent a couple of students to get me back.

I can’t remember if this was before or after I took the 6-foot python to the library one day.

Expect Calvin to make expect the unexpected phrase to have a whole new meaning.

I grew up with people like this: most of them are still doing time.

Incredibly, Calvin never expects to get hit with a GO TO YOUR ROOM RIGHT NOW YOUNG MAN.

Calvin sure knows how to get in trouble. He knows he will too. That’s the funny part.

Hobbs’ comment makes the strip.

Most of Hobbs’ comments remind me of the old Popeye cartoons. The things Popeye muttered under his breath were often funnier than the cartoon itself.

Seeing as how Hobbes is “sort of” a figment of imagination, it seems to me that Calvin does have some good sense in him somewhere. But it has to manifest itself in the form of Hobbes so it can be easily ignored if need be.

If you want to risk that, Calvin then you’re very brave.
