Im surprised they left the pillows on the bed. By the way who paid for the Spa Suite? Surely not Joy and Burl. Maybe Ma? But wouldn’t she be there too? Burl couldn’t have won employee of the year could he? Inquiring minds want to know.

No weed, chablis, brownies, and afternoon delight at the spa? What a waste!Re: the plush robes, lotsa places like the Kohler Spa check the room and add the missing items to your bill, sometimes whilst you are trekking to the lobby. No one ever says anything; they just put it on your bill. For the Pennys, I’d add the cost of fumigating the room as well.I do have a bone to pick. No self-respecting Marine would ever let Burl wear anything about the USMC. A USMC Gift Shoppe? Never! Semper Fi, y’all.

For a tightwad couple living on a single low income, Burl and Joy seem to stay in motels a LOT…

But like cartoon physics, and comics continuity, cartoon finances are flexible…. you have to give up the notion of rational arithmetic.

It’s like trying to figure out how “poor” sitcom characters live in huge fancy apartments and houses.

The Pennys may eat Little Debbies and generic cereal, and buy Scatt bathroom tissue….but when it comes to travel, they’ll spend whatever it takes……to make the joke funny.

We just know they would stuff those robes in their suitcases, just like we know they have a kitchen drawer full of of sugar, salt and catsup packets….

So to let us see them do it, Julie needs to draw them at a fancy motel. They’re but actors…. Julie pays their travel expenses.

And Mikie…. anybody can buy USMC t-shirts…. at T-shirt shops, on eBay, from CafePress, all kinds of websites …

I guess it’s a question of who challenges him or picks a fight…but over a shirt that says “Gift Shop” … would they bother?

You know what else the rich don’t have (and don’t need). A HAZMAT crew to deal with the noxious ring they leave around their tub.

If the Kohler Lodge is supposed to be the American Club, an upscale resort in Kohler, WI, that means Burl and Joy were only about 30 miles from me. And I thought that odor was from the paper mill.

They didn’t take the pic because it’s probably totally nailed to the wall. You’d need a crowbar to pry it off. I never see the Pennys take the bed pillows. Probably because they don’t fit into the suitcase. My dad ran a resort when we were growing up. He would have fits because back then in the 1960s, people took stuff out of the rooms all the time. I guess they felt entitled to it. It was amazing that he made any money at all. The other way they would make up for the thefts would be to raise the room rates and let somebody else pay for the junk. Maybe the Pennys got the robes as a part of their spa package.

ECJack, roger on the paper-mill smell. I grew up in Appleton, where we could only smell them if there was an east wind.

Goes without saying they will take anything they can (we all know SOMEONE like that- and avoid taking them anywhere).

As to spa-baths for 2, two normal size (not Penny size)people fit easily in a regular tub and Jacuzzi makes them nice and deep.

My new friend has an in-ground spa that just needs a privacy screen and some other work (he already bought the filter). Better than my pool in this season, because I don’t heat it.
