Show some guts, Boy. Hit him with the balloon and see what happens.

Sure, hit him. And take the situation from the realm of hypothesis.

The catch is, you DON’T know, but as life is invariably fatal anyway, you might as well go for broke. If you don’t and itisn’t, you’ll always regret the lost opportunity. If you do andit is, at least you’ll go out with a bang.

Always good to think the concept through to completion BEFORE you leap on it. Hypothetical concepts tend to have real consequences.

You’re right Calvin. That was more of an existential statement than a hypothetical question.

Last row, second panel… what’s that white goggles shaped thing between Calvin’s eyes and his hair, please? That’s not how his forehead is drawn in any other panel in today’s strip.

I noticed that too – it’s Hobbes’ thumb, a good grip on Calvin’s head. Calvin – YOU get a grip!

I became a psychologist so that I might understand how that boy’s mind worked. Watterson? Freud couldn’t figure HIM out!

I wonder, could a boys’ stuffed toy tiger be convicted of murder?

Hobbes is being very forceful with Calvin, because he doesn’t want his hypothetical question to become watered-down.

Calvin’s version of Schrödinger’s cat, or tiger in this case. Is Hobbes wet? Is Calvin still alive? We can’t possibly know until we peek through our fingers. So we think of Hobbes as both wet AND dry.

Could it be that Hobbes is Calvin’s tangible version of a conscience?

Just say you were looking for Susie, Calvin. Hobbes won’t murder you if you say you were going to balloon Susie.

hahaha. Did anybody else see the episode of ‘Shark Tank’ where the guy invented the water balloon filler that actually does a bunch at the same time and seals them up? It was great!

Poor Calvin, he’s really scared. Best to keep Susie (or Mom) as his targets.

Calvin is a lot of things, but a good liar isn’t one of them. “Yeah, Hobbes, I was waiting to cream Suzy with this water balloon, wanna help?” How difficult was that to come up with?

Calvin and his pet tiger Hobbes are playing outside. Calvin thinks it would be fun to add water to their outdoors playing. Hobbes disagrees. Calvin throws a lawn dart at Uncle Max
