Cartoonists are closer to it than you might think. When these samples ran in the 90âs, more strips still made their income through reprint rights to newspapers. With the miracle of online comics, there are far, far fewer venues for a strip. Simply appearing on a website doesnât guarantee cash.
These characters look a great deal like the ones in âBaby Blues,â but the artists of that strip are Rick Kirkman and Jerry Scott. Anyone know of a connection?
This has been a very interesting history of the strip. It would be nice if other strips followed suit for the strips that have been around for a very long time.
I know Iâm not the only one who expected a âDilbertâ-type drawing style for the 90âs. Plus Iâm not a big fan of âBaby Blues, I like âZitsâ better.
But the styles arenât different, even if the artists were/are. Thatâs what several of us seem to be noticing. The similarity between that old âWorking Dazeâ and the current âBaby Bluesâ is, well, kinda startling.

I really thought these guys would know when and when not to use an apostrophe in âits.â

The characters look like they were drawn by the writers of âBaby Bluesâ.
