I was born and raised in germany and didn’t learn english until 4th grade (and was not really interested in it during 5 to 9th grade). Only when computer games with story came out (yes, I’m so old, to remember the beginning of games where you had to read a story), did I become interested in it. What was I saying? Oh, yeah. Most likely my pronounciation is atrocious as well, and I do have an accent. But I doubt that I have many mangled sayings. After all, most of the sayings in the strip are also used in german (though they are said in german then, of course). I think his wife is simply a ditz.
