Girl: New box racer, Nancy?
Nancy: Yep! Yep!
Sluggo: Can I help to christen her?
Nancy: Got the CANDY WAX BOTTLE right here!
Girl: HURRAY!
Sluggo: It's always a beautiful, tasty ceremony!
Nik-L-Nips were always tempting, but I’d only get them once in a while. Not big on chewing the wax (ditto the wax lips or whatever that odd wax pan pipe thing was). They were very low on my personal “candy to nickle” scale.
If I was rich enough I’d spring for a box of rock candy (usually 10 cents). Otherwise it was a 5 cent Hollywood Milkshake or Zero bar, followed in descending preference by a Mars bar, followed by a Clark bar, Atomic Fireballs…
At People’s Drug Stores they were 5 cents each and 6 for a quarter. The clerk would even let me slide for the penny tax on the quarter sometimes.

There wasn’t much to those waxed bottles, but this is sure a cute way of using one.
