    Some nursing newborns seem to want all of mom’s interactions with them to involve feeding. Otherwise, they are unhappy. They adjust eventually, just as they adapt to the whole day vs night thing eventually. Of course, experiences can vary along these lines…

    I did what my father did for us: entertain us with stories until we were ready to sleep. Sometimes I included a little physics, chemistry, history, philosophy, et cetera. It helped them sleep and got them ready for the subjects.(One English teacher referred to “the little know-it-all in fourth block” The other kids knew it was my eldest son. She griped about it in the teachers’ lounge and the other teachers backed my boy up, showing why he WAS right. The next day in class, she apologized and admitted he was right. Instead of being offended, we were amused.)
