It’s the side effects that will get you. I’ve seen side effect warnings scarier than the films they used to show us to keep us from taking illegal drugs!
Good song. And what a voice Grace Slick had / has. Scary how we wanted to change the world back then and wound up with a text book case of unintended consequences. We should have paid attention to the Stones’ “Mother’s Little Helper”: “No more running for the shelter of a mothers little helperThey just helped you on your way, through your busy dying day”
What gets me is, although I never smoked or drank or did drugs, I’m in just as crummy shape as everyone else is. “The Golden Years have come at last, the Golden Years can kiss my @ss!”
Too young to have participated in taking drugs in the ‘60s, and didn’t later, either. Not the illegal variety, anyway. For several years I had, reluctantly, let myself be sucked into that route, but it had always bothered me. And it bothers me that so many people now accept without question that ingesting pharmaceutical cocktails is an inevitable part of aging (though they’re starting ever younger). It doesn’t have to be, and I won’t let it happen to me if I can help it.

I have to take a number of drugs myself, and I’m only 52. I don’t like taking them, but it sure beats the alternative.

I take a drug to undo the side effects of another drug…

At 70, I could dispute that!

Most of the drugs out there now do more harm than good.
