What the f—- is a “read on your own” day. That’s called homework. If you don’t care enough to have actual classes, and so much to cover that you are working hard to get it all in, you are a classically rotten teacher and should go sell insurance and let someone who wants to do the job have it.

Free Voluntary Reading is the best English (or foreign language) lesson a student can get on a regular basis. Studies show that we get 70% of our vocabulary that way. (For the haters who haven’t done their research. And remember, it’s just a cartoon!)

I thought they were in elementary school….She has the same students most of the day, All day read on your own? Not good…Elementary students should have silent reading time, but not all day…. And lecture 5th graders?…You explain things to them, not give them a lecture…In middle school, Language Arts students usually have one silent reading hour a week. In addition to studying an individual classic book…….
