I remember that blizzard. School was closed for over a week. Snow was up over the roof. I also remember the blizzard of ‘78. However, it has been that long since we’ve seen this much snow! And we were younger then.
The Great Ice Storm of ‘78 left the most surreal landscape I’ve ever seen. Dark and icy with tree limbs everywhere and colored flashes in the sky from arcing power lines.
Certainly this is the coldest winter I can ever remember. I have counted nine days where the temperature dropped into the single digits. Yes, I know that those who routinely endure subzero temps will probably say “Big whoop,” but in the NY Metro Area that is unprecedented in my experience. And while some years we have gotten a great deal of snow, I cannot ever remember it having snowed six times within two weeks. Maybe there are places where that’s typical, but again, I’ve never seen it snow that frequently within such a short span of time.

It’s so bad, the entire comic has been given a light dusting of snow, making it look as if the world has lost all color.
