Paige: Monday it was meatballs in red sauce. Tuesday it was meatballs in brown sauce. Yesterday it was meatballs in black sauce. This cafeteria does have a refrigerator, Right? Lunch Lady: Care for a meatball in fuzzy green sauce?

I remember our cafeteria served steak on Monday, hamburgers on Tuesday, meatballs on Wednesday and chili on Thursday. Of course we had fish on Friday. But it doesn’t take too much imagination to see how the beef was being recycled from Monday to Thursday.

When I was in college, the dining hall served hamburger in one form or another for two weeks straight. At the end, we were ready to riot.
