Adam: I think you need to take a break from this game. Clayton: What? Why? Adam: It's teaching you that the way to deal with annoying people is through violence. Throwing that bags of chips at me will only prove my point. Clayton: Dang.
Isn’t the game actually teaching him to release pent up anger through a virtual and non-harmful form of entertainment? Wouldn’t a good counselor or parent guide a child to the conclusion that it is good to release these emotions, but to do so in a manner that is either productive or not harmful to either the target or the child? Why are these games seen as the genesis of violence as opposed to a response to real world violence? and can they not in truth work both ways?
I played a lot of Mortal Kombat as a teenager. I have yet to rip out someone’s spine. I’ve played a lot of Grand Theft Auto as a young adult. I have yet to steal a car, murder a hooker, or challenge a kid to a RC helicopter race.

No matter, it’s still nowhere near “Grand Theft Auto”.

In the spirit of the game, wouldn’t he be going to bop Adam with it?

And, if he threw that bag o’ chips, he’d only have to clean up the mess himself. So, why bother.
