Rip Haywire: The highwayman is planning to use the old rail system to get your gold out of starlight! Spur: Good luck! Those trains are in worse shape than Amtrak! The earthquake that closed off Elk Canyon did a number on the rail bridge! It's got more cracks than a nudist convention! Even the Highwayman isn't dumb enough to try that bridge! It's weaker than stucky's hot wings! Rip Haywire: Have you seen his hat? I think you can kiss your gold goodbye. Spur: I did, every time I visited the bank.

Dan is a metaphor kind of guy and I just love it. I find myself using some of his from time to time. My avatar is the original bear dog Lulu and her dad; that would be me. Each day I read two comics before I get busy, and I just wish the other artist could (or would) draw cars & trucks at least half as good as Dan Thompson does. I did think for some reason that there were going to be vehicles in today’s (Monday) strip. The other artist that I’m talking about draws the BEST hands ever. I’m a bit of an artist and well drawn hands and feet are hard to do. I think that I’m starting to like old uncle Spur, but doesn’t he remind you of that lil fat red headed kid with a new (un-oiled) ball glove, could not catch a fly ball and he could not buy a base hit, none of the girls liked him and he could not shoot marbles off the tip of his index finger and when it snowed he’d stay indoors and his dad shoveled the sidewalk, oh yeah and his bicycle never needed new tires. And when we all grew up he got the best job with lots of money, he got pretty wife, real cool & good looking kids and a nice car or truck and motorcycle. In Monongalia county West Virginia in the Central School area that would have been John Cline. Rip Haywire deserves the 2014 Harvey Award! ` Take care, love, John
